The Schick family has been running this unique store with great passion and dedication for 40 years now. What could be more fitting for a hotelier's family than suitcases, hat boxes, chests of drawers and original pull-out boxes - all in miniature format and filled with the finest confectionery. A traditonal business - Altmann & Kühne

Founded in 1928, the store was only the fourth Viennese chocolatier by reputation. Altmann & Kühne quickly advanced to become the most exclusive manufacturer of fine chocolate goods in Vienna, attaining the status of a luxury item and soon becoming known and sought after beyond the country's borders. Celebrities such as Romy Schneider and Hans Moser enjoyed the sweet confections, as did the Duke of Windsor, former Prince of Wales.

In 1983, the company was put up for sale and the Schick family, who have always held tradition in high esteem, took over the business. To mark the 80th anniversary, Mrs. Petra Heytmanek-Schick had the original salesroom on Graben restored, including the old original pattern by Josef Hoffmann, who had helped design the premises in 1928.

Exclusive craftsmanship - a delight

Every single piece of confectionery, the house brand or the delightful Liliputkonfekt, is handmade. These works of art are produced right opposite the Hotel Stefanie, the oldest hotel in Vienna. Of course only the highest quality nougat, marzipan, cocoa etc. are used, without any artificial additives. On some days, you can even smell the tantalizing aroma of chocolate along Taborstraße as you leave Hotel Stefanie.
The packaging is a particular highlight: it is wrapped in paper that is based on patterns from the Wiener Werkstätten and dates back to the founding years. This makes them an unmistakable trademark of Altmann & Kühne.
